The 88m vessel, a VARD-designed and built Service Operation Vessel is Hybrid technology powered to provide offshore logistic support for up to 50 clients and technicians in a best in class V1:C2 comfort. The Voith propulsion ‘eVSP’, 5Te Redrock 3D crane and Uptime 30m walk-to-work gangway equipped vessel also benefits from a bespoke high performance offshore wind daughter craft The Alison Kay.
A new generation of vessel
The Grampian Tyne represents the first of North Star’s new offshore wind fleet. The 78m ship, a VARD-designed and built Service Operation Vessel (SOV) is hybrid technology powered to provide offshore logistic support for up to 40 clients and technicians.
The Grampian Tyne is one of four North Star SOVs destined for decade-long minimum charters to support operations and maintenance work at the Dogger Bank Wind Farm development.
The Grampian Derwent is further equipped with a heli-deck and task with the role of supporting the OSP and scheduled maintenance for the three phases of the project, 100km offshore.
